I was born in the lake
I was raised on the stream
I rolled down the river
Water in my dreams

I was hooked by worms
Caught fascinated by fish
Drowned in these swirls
Smooth stones my supper dish

I missed the fragrance
Of your muttering watery depths
Carried on the breezes
Where Native maidens once slinking crept

I am that princess
Running barefoot on the shore
In and out of trees
Lying on the palm-frond floor

I wave to you in my memories
I compose a tribute for us
I sing and call to liquid graves
That haunt my mental chorus

You were resurrected this morning
Brought bright, upright, anew
I feel emotional at your devotion
And lose myself in your deep, dark blue
