Own

My cover is blown
Faith has flown
No light has shone
I just want to be known

Real to the bone
Tough as stone
Luck on loan
Writing’s my own

White Moth of Fortune

This moth likes our front door. And we like him/her, too. He/she has been here for weeks now, off and on. Our own personal Florida welcome wagon.

With gold-laced wings
And good-luck feelings
You land upon our door

I can’t help but suppose
You bring luck to those
Who put faith upon your lore

We welcome your visit
And all your exquisite
Purity, truth and clarity

We acknowledge your grace
In resting on this place
And all your unusual rarity

You bring joy
Peace and accord
Light for the impending morn

You bring calm
Soothing charm
Hope is what you’ve borne

We want you to stay
Bring fortune today
And sweep away the storm

If you’re someone I knew
Then know I love you
Especially in this form

Divine

Sweep across the swaying stalks
Windmill turns like a carousel horse
Thousands of black birds stream through the sky
On a cyclical solstice southern course

I’m waiting patiently for the very next second
As fairy-like wisps rise over my path
These balloons leave a smile on my teeth
I can taste sweet-smoky drops and drafts

Harbingers of potent memories
Bringers of light, luck, life and love
You’ll never pass this way again
But I remember your return from above
